In
2004 Musik Express were asked to create a unique themed event
for the prestigious ‘Stoke Park Club’.
The theme of this function was to be ‘James Bond’.
The bands role was to perform all of the ‘Bond’
themes and songs from as many of the James bond films as possible.
Our trademark commitment to musical perfection led us to present
our band as a Seventeen piece big band with a ‘Shirley
Bassey’ sound alike to sing the famous ‘Bond’
songs that had a female lead vocal such as ‘Goldfinger’
and ‘Diamonds are forever’ and Steve our band
leader singing the big male songs such as 'Thunderball' and
‘ From Russia with Love’ etc. The extra large
Brass section sounded simply wonderful and from the very first
‘Ba Da, boom Ba Da boom, Ba Da Ba Da Da! the audience
were awe struck. They had consumed many ‘dry martinis
shaken not stirred’ by then and the dance floor was
packed full of men in white dinner jackets dancing around
in a ‘Bond like manner’ and ladies ‘shimmering’
around them to the music. By the end of the ‘Bond set’
which lasted 75 minutes! there was a huge ‘roar’
of approval from the audience.
